Introducing

Mr. W. Ray Bossons

Chairman and Managing Director of Bossons (1951-1996)

Standing at the entrance to the Bossons Headquarters, Brook Mills, Mountbatten Way, Congleton, Cheshire, England, August 1984. After Bossons closed their operations in December 1996, "...Congleton's Brook Mill [building] has been classified as a building of architectural or historic interest...It was built between 1785 and the early 19th century, extended in 1835" (quoted from Chronicle, Friday, 11th July, 1997). Though under constant renovations, Bossons occupied the Brook Mills buildings from the time the business was started by Mr. Bossons' father, W. H. Bossons, in 1946 until the closing in 1996.

The old "Silk Mill," and former home of Bossons has been dedicated an Historical Landmark. The buildings are "...being transformed into a stunning development of smart contemporary h omes preserving the original mill building and taking full advantage of the waterside setting." For a complete history link to: THE SILK MILL

An artist himself of exceptional talent, Ray Bossons had the propensity to attract only the most gifted artists of the day to work at Bossons. While continuing to promote and manage the business that grew to extraordinary prominence in the art world, he also created a number of Bossons that are highly coveted by collectors. Here are a few starting with some of the most recent modelings: Nuvolari, Santa Claus, The Parson, Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, Rolf, Sir Lancelot, Blackbeard, Captain Pierre Le Grand, the "Briar Rose" Collection, and the increasingly popular SHAKESPEAREAN COLLECTION (1993-94), including these characters from Shakespeare's plays: from "Twelfth Night"- Sir Tobey Belch , Sir Andrew Aguecheek, and Malvolio; from "The Merry Wives of Windsor" - Falstaff and Portia; and from "The Taming of the Shrew" - Katherina.

The next photos show Mr. Bossons displaying with pride
one of his finest works of art to Don Hardisty (at the factory, August 1984).

To Pay Tribute:

It is with much emotion and fond remembrances that I commemorate the passing of my friend W. Ray Bossons on Thursday, May 22, 1999. He was a great supporter of my work, an internationally recognized artist, and highly respected businessman. We miss him as the creator of our "Imagical World of Bossons".

Special Note: Ray Bossons sculpted these animal "character studies" while he was hospitalized for illness in the 70's. He had "time" on his hands, but his creative genius did not rest. He would not want us to mourn his passing, but rather to look at life in a humorous manner, and having a few chuckles along our way as we view these wonderful additions to his "Imagical World of Bossons."
